Since the museum has been formed there have been many projects below are pictures of some.

I apologise if they are not it date order.

This first section of photos are of when we re-roofed the Chapel it was starting to leak, bearing in mind it had been up there for a great many years and we needed to protect the murals and displays of artefacts and uniforms that are on show.

Our thanks go out to all who helped finance this operation and the extra volunteers who helped Fred, Skip, Billy, Albert, Bruce, Steve & James, if I forgot anyone please let me know. A lot of hard work went in and when it was hot it was hot luckily the rain held off most of the time.

Billy keeps an eye on Bruce, up at roof level showing what to do.

Steve & Fred

At the back of the building Steve & Fred errect the scaffolding.

Billy

This is in the early stages of re-roofing the Chapel museum.

Chimney

Looking a bit sad and worse for wear the chimnies are taken down.

Fred & Steve make an inspection.

Chimney off roof

As the chimnies are taken down they will be kept.

Fred,Albert & Skip seem to be slacking off?

Finished

Albert,Fred,Skip,Bruce,James,Billy & Steve proud of a good job done.

The work carries on even when it rains, covers must be put on to stop leaks.

Finished

The proud team pose with the flag flying high. picture taken from finished roof.

Steve Billy & Bruce

The clouds are starting to form but work is well on the way.

Half way mark

Looking good half way there.

These chimnies may only look small but by gosh they are heavy.

Hot

How the weather changes, James is enjoying the sun.

Under all the corregated sheets insulation is installed to help keep the cold out and the warmth in.

There is alot more to this roof.

I think James is getting used to the high views.

James realy enjoying the sun, but it did get very hot.

Fred puts the flag up even when working.

Steve Bruce & Billy

Taking a breather.

This is the roof before work began, looking a little weathered.

Work begins with putting up the scaffolding.

Skip sweeps the deals on the scaffolding.

Roof from above

The roof has collected moss for many years but time for it's face lift.

Steve starts with getting the chimnies down.

Steve

Hey caught you sunning yourself Steve, come on time to get on.

Billy & Fred give a thumbs up on how work is progressing.

Fred Billy Albert Skip

Work carries on but what on earth if Fred up to.

November 2002 the museum got its own etched window.

We decided one of our windows should had something on it Steve came up with a poem and Mr Bowman knew just the person a gentleman by the name of Jasper Miles he has published work and one of his books is in the museum an elderly gentleman and very frail but this did not stop him from compiling his ode, once written we had to raise the money to get it etched and thanks again (which will be repeated many times on this page) to all who helped with the funding.

The biggest project Hethel has had for a long time.

For quite a while now we have been making plans to make more room for more display area, we have just run out of room, so we have raised the money with your help to pay for the plans to be passed by the council to build  two Nissan huts now we have the job of raising the rest of the money to actually build them ... below are the plans so you can see what we are aiming for.

Pat Ramm has done a sky dive last year and raised money for us, we have held stalls at functions had our own open days, had donations from our Green Dragon members but we still need more, we are now at the point of re-marking out the site as unforeseen circumstances have come up and we have had to move the location of the huts round slightly so some very kind volunteers will re-mark the site up, then we will have to get the digger in again Mr Pat Ramm will use his digger to do this at a very reasonable rate. Below are a few pictures of the various stages. Please click on the pictures to enlarge.

Les filling a skip with scrap.

Cathy bringing remnants of scrap from Huts site.

Cleared area for proposed Nissan Huts

Ian measuring out location for Huts

As marking goes on.

Rather expensive equipment is involved.

Ian brought his equipment to do a proper job.

It's not a simple procedure.

As markers go in it's looking good.

As Ian marks out the boys take down the old tool shed.

Almost finished taking down the old tool shed to re-locate.
